Revelation, Dan Herrera

Dan Herrera

Title: Chief Technical Officer

First Job: My first job was cleaning up a second-hand shop when I was 13. I saved up all of my pay from my first job to buy a plastic Napoleonic chess set from the very same shop I was cleaning. I'm still pretty sure I got taken for a ride on the price.

Favorite Store: Billy Galaxy. It's like a time-portal to my childhood.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: I love the development culture at Revelation, we work hard to provide a process and culture that facilitates great work.

First Job: Programming offshore banking software at age 16. I had no clue what I was doing at the time but nevertheless learned a lot through trial and error.

Favorite Store: Sparkfun — a huge selection of electronic parts and computer chips!

What you like about your current work at Revelation: The ability to freely explore ideas and apply creative energy in a forward-thinking agile environment.

Title: Director of Business Development

First Job: My first unpaid job was selling Camp Fire Girls candy. I sold enough peanut clusters and thin mints in the fourth grade to pay for summer camp.

Favorite Store: Beecrowbee. Located in the small town of Joseph, Oregon near the Wallowa Mountains, this shop sells homemade soaps, lotions, and potions. Walking into Beecrowbee soothes all my senses. It calms, centers, and refreshes me — especially after a week of camping in the dirt.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: As I break the bindings of my new planner, I am getting more and more excited to bring new customers into the fold.

Title: Director of Customer Experience

First Job:  East Coast Records

Favorite Store: Powell's Books. I love the experience of walking into one of the country's largest independent book stores and know that the entire building is filled with stories. The possibilities are endless—head to the basement and you'll be transported into a world of culinary tales and recipes, stroll the first floor and browse great fiction and literary gems. Every floor offers a different path for a reader to choose.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: What I enjoy most about my job is the opportunity to connect with people. A large part of my responsibility at Revelation is to act as the conduit between our customers and our software development team. We put the software in the hands of users who continually come up with amazing ideas on how to improve our product. This position gives me the opportunity to listen to researchers' ideas and work with the development team to bring those ideas to life as features in our software.

First Job: Bus girl at 15, at Denicola’s Italian Restaurant to save money for my year abroad to Brazil.

Favorite Store: Community Resale. I have my own a space at the shop called SHTUFF; I love the search of something old and beat up that I can repurpose, beautify, and sell. I’m a junker at heart.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: I love that every day brings different tasks and projects and that I’m able to utilize my talents in so many areas.

Max Ogden

Title: Jr. Agilist

First Job: Small town computer shop fixing computers

Favorite Store: Uwajimaya Asian Market because most of the time I have no idea what I bought until I open and sample my purchases. I'm usually still confused after this step, actually. That's what makes it so great!

What you like about your current work at Revelation: There is very little bureaucracy which is very refreshing and makes everyone happy and eager to talk to each other to solve problems. Also, we have a dog friendly office!

Elizabeth MacLaughlin

Title: Associate Customer Experience Manager

First Job: Working the front desk at a Youth Hostel in San Francisco. I especially enjoyed evening shifts because they gave me a chance to have long conversations with travelers from all over the world.

Favorite Store: Odessa. I’m a huge fan of textile and clothing design, and Odessa always carries beautifully edited collections.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: I love the agile development culture and enjoy bringing the same approach to the project management side. It’s a joy to have the opportunity to collaborate with our users and researchers to enhance our products and services – I learn something new every day.

Josh Goldberg

Title: Marketing Associate

First Job: At 14, I started my own small business, a canteen that served three campgrounds all the while I tended to my itty-bitty kiddies as a camp counselor. The five- and six-year-old boys were my darlings.

Favorite Store: Escentials Lotions & Oils. I’m such a sucker for essential oils. I can spend hours with bottles of perfumes and scents creating my own blends for my soaps.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: Working for Revelation reminds me of the days that Andrew Jackson placed a big block of cheese in his foyer to warmly greet the citizens who had a difficult time reaching the President. It’s not for the lactose intolerant.

Michael Stapleton

Title: Marketing Communications Intern

First Job: I was a radio producer for a love song dedication call-in show when I was 16.

Favorite Store: I enjoy the old-world (albeit now chain store) charm of Brooks Brothers. There is something alluring about frequenting the oldest men's clothing store in the U.S.

What you like about your current work at Revelation: I love watching my own knowledge and understanding, particularly in marketing and communications, increase alongside Revelation's own growth.
